I'm anxious for the Balenciaga exhibit to arrive at the de Young museum in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco!!! Cristóbal Balenciaga was a Spanish fashion designer who opened his first boutique in 1918. He was a master at bringing ultra modern shape, volume and femininity to his collections. He spawned several proteges who went on to become quite notable designers in their own rights, including Oscar de la Renta (1949), Andre Courreges (1950), Emanuel Ungaro (1958), and his most famous and noted protégé was Hubert de Givenchy.
You can find out more information about the designer and the upcoming exhibit here:

and here: de Young Museum exhibition page http://deyoung.famsf.org/deyoung/exhibitions
And the Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balenciaga
...on another more light note, Balenciaga's designs remind me of an old "I Love Lucy" episode called "Lucy Gets a Paris Gown"
...and on yet an even lighter note, here is Mattel's version: "Lucy Gets A Paris Gown™" | Barbie Collector
Hope you enjoy and make sure to check out the de Young exhibition coming soon!
