The Drifters- a quintuplet of nice oldies tunes

I grew up listening to these tunes and oh how I miss being able to hear them on a regular radio station. Thanks to Bill Gardner and his show "Rhapsody in Black" that is broadcast in the Los Angeles area on 90.7 KPFK, you can still find a 2 hour a week window on public radio that still plays them. Unfortunately for me, I no longer live in LA and I don't get to look forward to his show. ( ...and so I thank Youtube for making all of these oldies still accessible!

And as for the many great songs did they grace us with?! Here are a few of my faves!

New Stuffy! plus a few additional items I've made...

New stuffy! I've been wanting to add a few new creatures to join my Owl stuffy and an elephant has always been on my mind, so here she is! This is a prototype so keep an eye out for the next generations! Eleflaunt!!!

I made this bag especially for my mom as one of her Christmas gifts. She grew up loving paper dolls and shared this love with me when I was a child. I was so excited when I found the yardage! The plaid with flocked bumble bees is a vintage fabric I've had in my collection for years and the pink and white with gold metallic ric rac is also vintage.

These are the 3 newest owls to fly into Leanna Lin's Wonderland in Los Angeles! Go visit...she's on Eagle Rock Blvd a block down from Colorado Blvd in the Eagle Rock neighborhood.

Family Photos...

Over Christmas weekend, I had a chance to visit my grandma. She will be 95 in a few short weeks. During our visit, she pulled out photos that she carries with her in her purse. A couple of them are very old, going back to the 40s and 50s. I didn't have a proper camera with me, but wanted to snap a pic of what she was showing to me, so I used my phone camera which doesn't come out all that good, but had to do. :)

The photos are of her in front of a merry go round, one of my great grandfather and my aunt as a child, one of my grandpa in front of the apartment building that he and my grandma managed in Hollywood in the 60s and 70s and one in 1953 of my grandpa and aunt at the farm where they lived in upstate New York.
