Hello All! I'll be heading down to L.A. for a few days to do some shopping, inspiration gathering and visiting of friends and family. Will share a few things from my trip when I get back!

"Rock Paper Salt" and the art of Christine Nguyen

A good friend of mine also happens to be an amazing artist! Her name is Christine Nguyen and she has an upcoming show at the Huntington Beach Art Center in Huntington Beach, CA. The opening reception is this Friday night, July 9 from 7-9pm. The show will be available for viewing through September 4th. ROCK PAPER SALT is her new exhibition where she will be showing new works using salt crystallization. She combines hand drawn and painted photo negatives, with salt crystallizations and patterns to create photo based artwork. She also incorporates delicate and sensitive drawings on vellem that may be layered to create depth. It's hard to put proper words to her work, so please take a look at her website for a first hand experience! And of course, I highly recommend a viewing of her work in person, because oftentimes the size, scale and breadth of the work in her shows cannot be properly experienced through photographs!

Great Views!!!

Might I say that I've been blessed to have the opportunity to work for some companies in San Francisco that have some pretty amazing locations and views! Last week I freelanced at GAP Outlet headquarters on Folsom and Embarcadero. I thank the weather gods for bringing such a beautiful week and allowing me to take advantage of the 7th floor rooftop patio connected to their caffeteria! Here are a couple of pictures of the view I got to enjoy while eating lunch. These show the Bay and the SF/Oakland Bay Bridge, with the Oakland sea port off in the distance. Enjoy!

Also, I love free stuff! I've been blessed throughout the years to find some really great items on the sidewalk free for the taking! This pic includes some great turquoise fine wale corduroy, a couple of unused candles and a super cute fishy ice tray!

Scores of the DAY!!!

I was downtown today taking care of some business...ended up parking just across the street from one of our local thrift stores, so I decided to see what kind of treasures might be hiding in there for me to find! Here's a few pics of some of the cool swag I brought home with me! Some you will see in my eBay shop soon, while most of this stuff will more than likely stay here with me. :) I'm a sucker for cool vintage stuff!

Liz picked up two TOOF Tooth Fairy pillows for her twin girls, one of which is about to loose her first tooth and the other is on it's way to a new home in UT. Wonders of wonderful vintage fabrics!

I've gotta say...i really love pattern and color! One of the biggest loves in my life (materially speaking, literally!) is vintage fabric. I've collected it for many years and even after liquidating a bunch of trims and fabrics from my collection a couple of years back, my collection has started to grow once again! The pics I'm including here are not from my personal collection but fabrics and prints that I've seen that inspire me. I hope you will enjoy!
