WOW...that was a long hiatus. A lot has happened since April. Some crazy things, some stressful things, many fun things and some BIG things! Namely, I have joined the team at VAMP music*art*consignment in Oakland in a BIG WAY! If you haven't heard about VAMP, check out the Facebook page to see what we're all about: https://www.facebook.com/vampmusicandart. We are open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from noon until 6pm. We are a vintage vinyl record store made up of both consignment and shop owned offerings. We specialize in Black music from the 1940s-1980s, specifically Jazz, Soul, Gospel, R&B and Blues. We carry LPs, 45s, 12" singles, etc. We are always getting in new stuff, so be sure to check back often and keep an eye on our FB page for the best news!
We recently started making lists of new stock coming into the store. Check out the list below for tons of great titles that you will have the opportunity to buy starting this weekend! And as a matter of fact, VAMP is the location and setting for a play that is currently being put on the the All Terrain Theatre group (https://www.facebook.com/events/434243053263196/). Opening night is tonight! (Thursday night), with shows Friday and Saturday night, as well as Thur/Fri/Sat for the next 2 weekends. Another fantastic night planned and promoted by Boss Sounds Productions in Santa Rosa! I know it's a bit of a drive for most of you out there, but it's definitely worth the trip! Happy (belated) Valentines Day Wishes!
I know, I know...I'm a few days late. I hope you can forgive me...I came down with an 18 hour stomach virus late Monday night and was pretty much out of commission all day Tuesday...anyway, here are a couple of adorable vintage valentines that relate to things that are or have been dear to my heart throughout my life: records & scooters!
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

21 Grand Record Swap & Benefit Sale
Time
Saturday, December 4 · 11:00am - 5:00pm
Location
21 Grand
416 25th St
West Oakland, CA
I made a few record bowls from "too worn out" vintage 45s. Added a glossy print scanned from vintage 1960s "Co-Ed" magazines and glued a colorful bit of felt to the bottoms. Sorry these pics are so dark...these look really cool in person! Only $3 each!

The following photos are a few of the music/record related items I will have for sale, as well as my small collection of vintage Wonder Woman comics. :) 45s will be anywhere from $0.50-$2.00. LPs are anywhere from $1.00 to $20.00. The more you buy, the better deal I will give you on the grand total price!!! Would love to see all of your beautiful faces this Saturday, December 4th!

21 Grand Record Swap on December 4th!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I stopped in to the 21 Grand Record Swap/Benefit on a Saturday afternoon. Even though I got there kinda late and there were only about 10-12 vendors, I still came home with a pretty heft stack of records and even a DVD all for great prices! To my happy surprise, they are doing another one and this time, I'm renting a table! I'll have lots of 45s, a stack of LPs, maybe a DVD or 2 and possibly even a little digital sampler and another piece of equipment too! I've got a Disk-Go (vintage 45 carrying/storage case) too! Anyway, what matters is that you come down to support your local businesses, i.e. the 21 Grand Gallery, as well as your local music folks who will be participating! Hope to see ya there!!!

We're liquidating our vinyl! And we've got hundreds of titles in our collection. To give you a clue, here's a brief summary ---
Feeling New Romantic? Get ready to feel some emotions! A mixture of 80's synth pop oldie but goodies, like Berlin, Bronski Beat, Howard Jones, Naked Eyes, and Re-Flex.
Fun Soul, disco, and eighties softpop, think Donna Summer and walking in a white suit on the beach!
Here's a taste: Janet Jackson - Control; Shalimar; TK Disco.
A respectable collection of acid house and UK dance from former collector. Wicked tons of drum n bass n oldscore 'ardcore! These tunes are mental! We're ain't taking the piss, mate -- Altern 8 - Infilitrat- america; Ming and FS - Freak; Something J / DJ Maxximus: Mercedes Bentley vs Versace Armani;
various Schematic and Warp Records
Also, all of my old arty-farty comics that are getting me down, including some Ivan Brunetti material, racy hot zines (sexy), the Comics Journal that interviews Jim Woodring, and Sandman! Sandman! Sandman!!!
also a Benefit-within-a-benefit - the Haiti Relief Distro started back in the Spring with donations from Yik Yak Records, Zum, Orthlorng Musork, Kimosciotic, Alternative Tentacles, Death Sentence:Panda!, Terminal, Oh Sees, Deerhoof, and friends

Groove Merchant turns 20!

It's nice to know that in the middle of our very trying economic times, there is a independant business that is celebrating an anniversary and 20 years at that! Groove Merchant is one of the best Indie record stores in the Bay Area. Located in the Lower Haight in San Francisco, they occupy a modest sized shop, but hold a wealth of original vinyl. My collection centers around Soul, and they definitely have an amazing selection to offer. They also carry Jazz, Latin, Funk, Folk and on and on. Mostly LP's & 12", but a nice little selection of 45s as well. If you haven't been down to support, don't wait any longer! And while you're there, pick up one of the 20th anniversary commemorative CD comps that has been put out by Ubiquity Records!
Click on the link below to read more about the anniversary and the nice items Ubiquity has put together.

Ramsey Lewis Trio ~ Barefoot Sunday Blues

I just picked up this record today from my friend at one of our local swap meets. I'm having a listen and am loving it! The tunes are so laid back, smooth and perfect for a "Barefoot Sunday" afternoon! I own quite a few Ramsey Lewis Trio records and I enjoy each one of them. I understand that this album has never been released on CD, but I've found a place where you can download it in case you're interested. http://allfreedownloadlinks.net/free-music-downloads/jazz-music/ramsey-lewis-trio-barefoot-sunday-blues-lp-rip/
Here's a sample of one of the tunes. Enjoy!!!

I'm Back and posting on ETSY again!
Hello All!
My trip to LA was just what I needed! Only wish I had another week to spend more time in the thrift stores! Instead, we spent the great majority of our week deep in the dark depths of record stores. And yes, I do mean "record"!... the sorts of stores that sell old vinyl and if you get to chatting with the owner, he may well give you a discount on your purchases! My boyfriend and I came back with some true gems and all at bargain prices!
We did make it to a couple of thrift stores and I will follow this post with a few pics of the things I found there. Since our return, work has kept me busy and a little cold has been keeping me at home. So, instead of wallowing in my aches and pains, I decided to get some pics taken and things posted to my ETSY shop: www.Questionetc.etsy.com I spent the majority of Saturday working on this and I've even already sold one of the newly posted items! Here's a few pics of some of the new items added.
